A Progression of Praise

By Rusty Stowe - Senior Adult Minister

Many of us remember the days of “Progressive Dinners.” We would begin at one house with appetizers and then to the next house for salads, etc. This “progression” would continue until we enjoyed a complete meal including dessert. The anticipation of being at different houses would grow until we finally arrived at the last house for BANANA PUDDING (hopefully)!

For me, November is like this. We begin our count down for the end of the year. We are looking forward to all the exciting things that accompany Christmas. But we need to remember to take this time of the year to “count our many blessings.” If you were to read Psalm 150 you could see a “progression of praise” that is included in those six short verses. He begins with a simple “praise the Lord” then he explains how and when and where we are to praise the Lord. The point is this, we have been so blessed that we should never cease to praise the Lord for these blessings.

December is upon us! The Christmas Village is taking shape and Christmas trees are popping up everywhere. The choirs are making their final preparations and we are looking forward to celebrating Christmas day in the House of the Lord. It is an exciting time!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
