Chisholm Kid's Summer Update

by Robin Roady - Children's Ministry Coordinator

Chisholm Kid's summer is in full swing! We started off the summer with Chisholm Preschool joining us at the OKC Zoo for our first Summer Adventure Day 2024! Since then, we have visited our furry friends at the Magnolia Blossom Alpaca Farm in Newcastle and ended our day getting cooled off at the Mustang Splash Pad. Our next Adventure Day will be held at the church since both vans are at Falls Creek. We have rented a huge inflatable waterslide paired with pizza and popsicles. It’s going to be a fun way to spend our time together on a very hot day!

A few weeks ago, we finished up Vacation Bible School. We had over 200 in attendance where we learned all about how God’s truth never changes. This was by far my favorite curriculum Lifeway has put out for VBS. Each day we looked at what the world tells us we should do versus how God tells us we should live our lives. God’s Word should always be where we turn when we need to find answers on how to live our daily lives. The kids learned the importance of reading God’s Word and trusting that what God says is always best. VBS changed the lives of 3 of our kids who trusted Jesus to be their Lord and Savior during our week together!

Crosstimbers Children’s Camp was a ton of fun for our Chisholm Kids! There were 30 of us who went to camp last week and learned what it meant to be a new creation in Christ. Our theme for the week was “Made New” based on 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” The morning devotions were geared more toward teaching the kids how to read their Bible and how to pray. The camp pastor did a phenomenal job teaching these concepts on a child’s level of understanding. It definitely challenged me to take some time this fall with our Chisholm Kids and dive deeper into what it means to read God’s Word and how even a child can learn to do this at an early age. The weather was overcast and cool for the most part. Our kids enjoyed canoeing, kayaking, climbed the ropes course, went on a hike and played a lot of Gaga Ball. We had a fantastic week but more importantly we had 3 kids accept Jesus as their Savior while at camp. 3 kids were made new in Christ last week! Thank you, Jesus!

THANK YOU to my precious church family for your prayers, encouragement and financial contributions you made in order to make VBS and Crosstimbers happen for our kids. THANK YOU to all my VBS volunteers and camp sponsors for taking time out of their schedules to help in children’s ministry. I simply could not do any of it without your help. One last big THANK YOU to Dia Sense and Brigette Lancaster for spending countless hours planning VBS. We started in February and spent time each week making sure we had everything in order so our kids and volunteers would have a wonderful week together. I could not do VBS without their help!

We have many more adventures ahead of us this summer! Please continue to pray for safety as we spend time together. Pray for our kids to continue to form friendships and bonds with one another. Please continue to pray for our Chisholm Kids team. We would love to add more volunteers to our Wednesday night and Sunday morning team. Pray where God could use you in teaching our kids about Jesus!

I love serving Christ together!
