GET OUT OF THE BOAT

RUSTY STOWE - Sr. Adult Minister

Simon Peter said, “Lord, if it’s You, tell me to come to You on the water.” (Matt. 14:28)

We are coming to the conclusion of a Wednesday night study entitled “If You Want To Walk on Water, You’ve Got To Get Out of The Boat.” John Ortberg points out that many people are just one step away from the adventure of a lifetime. We have learned that “water walking” means facing our fears and choosing not to let fear have the last word. We have discovered what it means to embrace God’s calling on our lives. And we have been challenged to experience the power of God to accomplish what we would not be capable of doing on our own. Matthew 14 has been our focal point for this study as we looked at Peter and the disciples to see what happened when Peter got out of the boat.

We have discovered that there may be some aspect of our lives that God is calling us to and it just may include walking on some water. It is up to us to call out to God and keep our eyes on Him.

March 3 – 6 are the dates we have set aside for this year’s Sr. Adult Led Revival. Our evangelist this year is Alan Quigley from Oklahoma City and our musician is Keith Haygood from First Baptist Church in Edmond. Both of these men are preparing right now to be used by God while in our church. Are you preparing to receive what God has in store for us?

We will begin our week with a Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, March 2. We will meet at 9:00 a.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room for some breakfast items and prayer. On Sunday we will have Sunday School as usual and a “ONE SERVICE” at 10:50 a.m. Sunday night we will be back at 6:00 p.m. On Monday and Tuesday mornings we will have services at 10:00 a.m. followed up by lunch for everyone in the Activity Center. There will be no evening services on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday there will be no morning service and we will all join together after dinner in the Worship Center for the last of our meetings with Alan and Keith.

The thing you can do right now is to PRAY that we will see lost souls come to know Jesus during these days. It has been a joy to serve you during these past few years. God has great things in our future, make sure you are part of all the exciting things.
