God is at Work

by Robin Roady - Children's Ministry Coordinator

John 15:5 says “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

I email my Sunday school teachers on a weekly basis to give them important information on what’s going on in the life of our church, but also to check on them and see if there is anything I can do for them. I almost always end my emails with “God is at work in our Chisholm Kids ministry”. I want to remind my teachers that through their hours spent studying, preparing for their lesson, and their dedication to our kids, God is at work. It does not matter how many kids they had in their class on Sunday or Wednesday night, God is at work.

Several years ago, a Bible study came out by Henry Blackaby called “Experiencing God”. It was probably one of my most favorite studies I have ever done. Lesson #1 in the study says “God is always at work around you.” This lesson has stuck with me for years. No matter our circumstances, God is always at work around us.

The question is, do you recognize God in your life? Do you look around each day to see how God is at work around you? We should be asking God where He is working and then join Him in the work. John 5:19-20 says “Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, the Son is not able to do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, the Son likewise does these things. For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing, and he will show him greater works than these so that you will be amazed.”

Take some time today to look around and see what God is doing, then ask God how you can join Him. There are many opportunities for you to join God’s work at Chisholm Heights Baptist Church. Looking around at our church family, it won’t take long to see that God is at work at CHBC. Will you join Him?

Let’s serve Christ together,

Robin
