GOD IS WITH US

DAVID BAKER, WORSHIP MINISTER

In my most recent softball tournament in Phoenix, some of my teammates approached me and asked me to pray with and for them concerning issues they were facing. And throughout this season, as well as in past seasons, I’ve had other ball players ask for prayers for comfort, peace, God’s hand to move, and healing. In each situation, they wanted to know that God was close; that God actually cared about them and was as concerned about their situation as they were.

I had the opportunity to share with them that God is indeed involved with them in their life. He is indeed watching over them and providing hope, encouragement, healing, and guarding their hearts from fear. He is listening to them and is giving words of comfort, of wisdom, of love, and is bringing peace that only He can provide.

God knew that we all needed a “God with skin on,” so He provided His very own Son. Even in His very name, God assured the presence of Himself. “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel (which means “God with us”).” – Matthew 1:23

God with us. God….WITH….us.

We can believe that God created the universe and all that we know, and that’s all well and good, but when we realize that “He became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14), we understand that God is indeed with us.

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…” - Isaiah 43:2-3

God says, “I am WITH you.”

No matter what, God is with us in every situation – the good, the bad, and everything in between. He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. (Deut. 31:6, 8) His presence is assured.

We worship Immanuel. God with us.

Prai-“sing” the One who came to be with us and is always near.

David
