We have just finished off an amazing year in the life of our church. Now we are beginning a new year with much anticipation and expectations! We have completed a year with forward movement, exciting events and “momentum.” By definition momentum is the quantity of motion of a moving body, measured as a product of its mass and velocity! Or in terms I can understand, momentum is an object, or in our case a church, that is moving forward with a rate that increases day after day.
We are now challenged to keep that “momentum” moving forward as we enter the year 2024. I personally cannot wait to see who God sends our way to be our pastor. We are eagerly awaiting to see who He will send to lead our music ministry. It is going to be exciting to see who God sends our way as new members. But it is even more exciting to see who comes to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior because you tell them about Jesus.
The enemy of “momentum” is negativism or apathy or just not caring about who or what we are as a church. I pray that we will continue to grow physically, emotionally and spiritually as we move forward. I understand that a “rolling stone gathers no moss” so let us accept the challenge to not be idle, but to keep moving in a forward direction.
Let us take the challenge set before us in the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Corinthians we he wrote: “But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of Him everywhere.” (2 Cor. 2:14) May our theme song be “Onward Christian soldiers, marching into war, with the cross of Jesus going on before!”
