So the Next Generation Will Know

by Robin Roady - Children's Ministry Coordinator

“He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.” Psalm 78:5-7

I love the quote, “If we don’t tell them about Jesus the world will." I don’t know about you, but I don’t want the world telling our kids much about anything. The most important thing we, as a church, can do is teach our children about Jesus and His gift of salvation for each and every one of them. Our preschool halls are overflowing with babies through kindergarteners, our grade school department is hopping with excitement and our Chisholm 56 pre-teens have doubled in size over the past year. Most importantly, we have had 17 kids come to know Christ since last summer. GOD IS AT WORK!! All glory goes to Him and the work He is doing in our children’s ministries! We have an amazing team of Sunday school teachers and Midweek leaders who pour their heart, soul, and lots of time into our kids. It is incredibly important that we have people in our church family who understand the importance of teaching our little ones about Jesus. Again, if we don’t do it there is a possibility no one will. What a huge and important responsibility!

We would love to add to our team of kids leaders. Would you pray about where God could use you in our kid's ministry? Would you pray and ask God where He could use your knowledge and experience of Him to share with a child? Maybe that is a Sunday school teacher, a Midweek leader, a nursery worker or even an extended teaching leader during worship on a few Sunday mornings a year. Chisholm Heights, it is our responsibility to come alongside our parents and lead our kids to Jesus. Let’s pray, seek God, be obedient to His calling on our lives and see all God will continue to do in our Chisholm Kids ministries.

My prayer is that as we continue to teach our children about Jesus, they will come to know Christ as their Savior. Then they will continue that legacy so the next generation will know about their Jesus! Will you join me? One of the most important things I get to do with my job is to equip children’s ministry leaders with guidance, curriculum, and even training on how to use the curriculum and manage a classroom. Would you be willing to talk to me about how you can serve in our preschool and children’s areas? If you are already serving somewhere else, would you pray for God to provide more volunteers in these areas, people who have a passion for teaching our Chisholm Kids about Jesus and His love for them?

Let’s continue to serve Christ together so the next generation will know,
