The Recipe for Sucess!

by Jeff Kimes - Executive Pastor

I have read and seen many articles on the internet about how to be successful. One of the articles went so far as to give the reader a list of 7 things to follow to be or feel successful. These 7 things included, making daily affirmation statements to yourself. I can see myself looking in the mirror saying “you look awesome,” no, “YOU ARE AWESOME”! Ha Ha

As a follower of Jesus, I know that my success is not determined by a feeling I have about myself. It is determined by how obedient I am to the Word of God. In Joshua chapter 1, we see God’s charge to Joshua.

Joshua 1:6-8 6 “Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 “Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go. 8 “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.

Moses has died and it is now Joshua’s job to lead the people of God into the Promise Land. In this passage God did not tell Joshua to raise a mighty army or gather a strong support group that will affirm your decisions. God told Joshua to obey the book of the

law, to meditate on it, and to teach it to his family. The fruit of that lifestyle would bring

Joshua success.

There are thousands of self-help books out there and there will be thousands more printed in the future. But the only book that brings real and lasting success is the Word

of God.

Dive into it, meditate on it and apply it to your life.

God Bless,

Jeff Kimes
