THE REFINER'S FIRE

JEFF KIMES - EXECUTIVE PASTOR

James 1:2

"Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."

Gold must go through a process of refining to remove the impurities to reach the standard of 24 karat, nearly 100% gold. One process is by heating the gold to its molten state, and when it reaches that state the impurities rise to the surface and the refiner can remove the impurities from the surface of the gold. The refiner continues this process until the gold is pure enough to see his reflection.

Our lives are not unlike gold in the Refiner’s hand. We will go through many fiery trials in our lives. As we go through those trials and lean on our faith, the impurities of the world are revealed so the Refiner can remove them. As more and more impurities of the world are removed, the more we reflect the image of the Refiner.

It may be odd to think you can find joy in the midst of a trial, but if you are able to reflect the image of Jesus in your actions and life as you are going through that trial what a witness you will be to the world around you.

If you are in the middle of a trial, or the next time you go through a trial, remember you are in the hands of the master Refiner, Jesus. In that truth, find your joy!

God Bless,

Jeff Kimes
