WHAT'S YOUR SONG?

“Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, my soul. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will SING praise to my God as long as I live.” These are the words of the Psalmist recorded for us in Psalm 146:1-3. And they are the words we need to be reminded of as we go through life right now! We know the role music plays in our society. Imagine watching a scary movie with no soundtrack. It would not be the same. Try watching a Hallmark movie without the calming romantic music playing in the background. Imagine coming to a worship service and not having music as part of our worship time! Many of us find ourselves singing at the top of our lungs when we are driving in our cars and trucks.

I have found myself dealing with themes of uncertainty, depression, fear, or worry since the middle of March. This morning, on my way to the office, I found myself singing a song from the 1970’s. It said, “Sing, from a laughing heart; Sing when the night is darkest; Sing, let the joy explode and let music fill the air. Sing when nothing else will do; Sing when something deep inside of you tells you that life is still the one just throw back your head and SING!” What is your song that you are singing?

Just a reminder to our Sr. Adults that our annual Fall Banquet is still on the calendar for Monday night, October 5, 2020. Texas Roadhouse will be serving our meal again this year and our entertainment will be provide once again by Darla Morgan. Tickets will be available beginning Wednesday, September 9 and they will cost $12.50 each. We will need to practice our social distancing for this event, so get your tickets early and secure your place at a table. You can get tickets in the office or at the Welcome Desk on Sunday mornings.

Have a great week and find your song and SING it!
