Johannes Kepler was a 16th century astronomer who is known for, among other things, developing an accurate formula for predicting the orbits of planetary bodies. His breakthroughs, still foundational today, came from an understanding of a great Almighty who designed His universe with perfection. Such faith led him to look outside the box of the expectations of his day and seek the answers that had previously been unanswerable. While others were content with accepting the chaos as unavoidable, Kepler’s faith told Him the world God created was borne out of design, out of plan, and out of purpose. As the Psalmist said, “The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.” Creation witnesses of the Creator!
Chaos seems to reign supreme around us. Wars, disease, and a faltering economy shape the news on a global level. Our own lives might be torn by grief, confusion, bitterness, and dismay. Yet, through all these things and so many more, we are called upon to place our trust in our Creator God. He is the God of design, not chaos, even over the mundane things of our lives. We trust Him, that He will do the good thing when everyone else would give up.
His is faithful, my friends. In Him, we find guidance, help, and strength. In Him we have hope, promise and a future. In Him, we have life!
May the Lord take you through the day. May you experience His plan. Might you see His power displayed. I am grateful we get to share that journey together. It is a joy to be your pastor!
